One-weekend single-zone plan (experienced DIY)
Week before: size with the calculator, order matched kit, schedule electrician if you are not comfortable with 220V, pull permit if required. Saturday: mount outdoor pad/bracket and indoor head, drill penetration, run line set and drain. Sunday: electrical disconnect, leak check, open valves or vacuum, test modes. Complex multi-zone or long line sets are rarely a weekend DIY.
